Wednesday Highlights

Duck-duck-goose gone awry:
Perhaps you noticed the photo of the accident-prone Melissa and Joey :) During an impromptu game of duck-duck-goose, intended as a stall tactic while we waited to rotate stations, Melissa tripped while chasing Joey. Pastor Mel came to the rescue and bandaged up her scrapes. Ironically, Joey tripped minutes later, also while playing duck-duck-goose. He was too manly to rock out the bandaids, and especially to admit his injury came from a kindergarten game (so I'm taking the opportunity to admit it for him ;) Nothing more than minor cuts and scrapes and a good little story - no worries!

Spontaneous street ministry:
This afternoon we were scheduled to minister at a pre-school in the village. While we were singing and dancing with the children outside, adults started gathering to check it out (some danced and sang along!). Juan and Chris got into a conversation with a group of curious on-lookers, and they ended up getting into a conversation about Christianity. Juan patiently and boldly stood his ground and did his best to answer the difficult questions they fired at him. I was amazed at the way he did not give up. Several other students joined Juan and Chris, and Iesha summarized the gospel message for them (they all made me SOOOOOO proud).

When they still weren't convinced, I spoke without thinking, and said, "Would you like to see a drama that will explain what we're trying to say?" Oh dear, what did I just get our team into? We were supposed to be doing a children's program, and I just offered to do a drama that we didn't know very well, which would require half of our team!!!! All for an audience of 4 people!!!!

We spoke with Vickie, who without hesitation made big adjustments to the children's program to free up the rest of the team to minister. We set up the speakers in the street, and got into position (feeling alittle ridiculous, but somehow knowing we were doing the right thing). As we performed the drama to the song Everything (by Lifehouse), our audience continued to grow as curious neighbors gather along the outskirts. At the conclusion of the song, D.Lo Jr. (totally put on the spot), gave a dynamite, anointed explanation of the drama and the gospel message (yet another proud moment!!!). At least half a dozen of the onlookers came to us for prayer and accepted Jesus as their Savior! If that's not powerful enough, it gets better! Several of them said to us, "You need to perform it one more time, right now, because my friend needs to see it, and we don't want to wait for church on Sunday." OH MY GOODNESS! ARE YOU SERIOUS?????!!!!!!

It's only the first day of ministry, and I think God is proving that he has a LOT in store for us! There is so much more to come! Please keep the team in prayer, because the greater the impact you make for God, the more opposition you face from the enemy (though we know that we are MORE than conquerers in Christ).

Love and gratitude,

*Pastor Courtney

P.S. The team had the opportunity to shower in the water falls last night - such an experience and so refreshing! I want one in my backyard ;)

P.S. All of our team members are in great health and are doing well. They are having a blast and making us soooooo proud! I'm sure you're proud of them as well.

oh my!! Oh My! Pastor Courtney...Joey left his cape home in his closet this time so please keep him away from Duck Duck Goose...and BY ALL MEANS - have him stay clear of Ring Around the Rosie!!

Incredible to hear about your day of spontaneous 'Street Ministry'. It reminded me of the many times when Jesus was 'interrupted' in His day and ministered to others, "spontaneously". They are only interruptions to us ~ but they are divine appointments from God.

Be blessed ~Be a Blessing!!

ps. (Joey, the bandanna can double as a tourniquet, MacGyver!)

Pastor Melissa...awww..so nice to see you running to the rescue!

Hi Guys,
What an incredible first day! I am so proud of the entire team. You are truly being blessed. But it is so true, the enemy wants to seek and destroy so continue to work harder each and every day. Remember, put on the armor of GOD. 1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.
Zach, you'll have to get Gram to sign for the tatoo of that verse. You know I'm not wild about the idea!!! You're a wrestler, what do I expect!!!!
Lydia, I was smiling ear to ear when I saw the picture of you with the little children. How exciting!! Give them hugs and kisses from me.
Lydia and Zach, believe it or not, the house is tooooo quiet. I miss you and love you both so much. Continue to work hard and keep the faith. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Love,
Mom(you know it's Renee)

P.S.Dad said I'm addicted to this site!

Wow, I am so excited for all of you! I know that you are having an amazing time! Pastor Eran's message last night at Real Life was about taking risks, and how the bigger the risk you take, the bigger our God will be for you. When we step out and do those things that we know He is calling us to, even though it can be a little scary, He will always show up and blow us away with the results!
(We missed you all at Real Life last night by the way and are looking forward to next Wednesday's highlight service where we can all hear about your experiences!)

We love the pictures of everyone with the children!

Trevor, have you given away your football yet?

Love you!

Ava wants Mr. Joey to know that she got a boo-boo yesterday too, on her chin, while jumping off the sofa.

Also, she is glad to see that the puppets are in Jamaica and not at church this week (she is afraid of them!), but she still told me that SHE wants to "go there" too!

Be safe everyone!

I got chills tonight hearing Pastor Courtney tell the story of you guys setting up a street crusade in the middle of the 8 mile village just for 4 people only to have dozens more show up and many get saved, with a drama that you barely knew and DLO Jr. rockin the mic with his sermon. Those are the moments that we talked about right before you left. You're catching them and lives are being changed for all eternity.

When I think of the difference you're going to make in that village I tear up with a father's pride knowing that my spiritual sons and daughters are reaching a whole village for God. The spiritual battle is all around you. Pray up and keep on praying. There's more battles to be won and more attacks to be leveled against you. Now is your time, now is your moment to step forward, now is your moment of greatest risk. Take the step, a large step and watch a really, really, BIG GOD show up on your behalf. Whatever you think of God in this moment, however strong you image Him to be... He is more in power than your mind can comprehend, He is more in size than you can image, He is more in presence than you can feel or know. He is not just more.... He simply IS....

I love you all. Catch the moments, they're all around. I think there's one right behind Saminta right now. Go get it girl!!

I was so touched by wednesdays highlights. To hear how you are giving your all for GOD is awesome!! Extreme duck duck goose sounds like it was a blast) It is so great to see all those beautiful smiling faces of the team and the children,GODS love is so contagious. Pastor Courtney your account of the spontaneous street ministry made me cry, Jake has been watching the Everthing drama on youtube for weeks now, what an amazing way to show GODS love for us without words. Thank you Pastors for all the hard work preparing on Saturdays for this trip and preparing these young kids to be bold in their faith. I wish I could have been there to hear D. Lo jr.'s message way to step out of the comfort zone!!! I can't wait to read more. Keep pouring out the LOVE (Jake I know you have a ton of it to share) That is the most amazing thing about our Gods love there is always more and it is always enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember it is the only gift that we get back even more of it every time you give it away. Love to all of you!!!! Jodi

Overjoyed to hear all God is doing! Please post more photos of my dear Alexandra Ash!, Tell Alex,if she sees any spider monkeys to take a pic for our small group! Oh, and I looked up her name. It means "defender."
How perfect! That's what you are on this missions trip, Alex- a defender of God's truth, the weak, the hurting, the forgotten, and those feeling "un-extraordinary."
You, Alex, are a joy! I know you will bring joy to your teammates and to the strangers you meet. I'm praying you share your testimony, too! God has alot to say through you this week. Don't be afraid, be open.

All my love,
Andrea D.

p.s. you say (scream) it best, "No you're not hardcore...unless you live hardcore."

Maddi, I'm not gonna lie (I hate it when people say that because it implies that they always lie, so why did I just say it??? Anyway...) but I was pretty much strapped to my computer all day, excited to hear what happened, or was happening that day. What a cool, amazing thing with what happened in the street. You guys are so bold in the Lord... Way to go! I love you and miss you.

And Joey and Melissa~ Umm... really??? I guess the ground was just uneven or something? Lots of boulders and branches for you to trip over as your an around the little children...

I know im to nice to keep giving these to all of you but i do it cause you guys rock.

Why do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them?

Why do we put suits in a garment bag and put garments in a suitcase?

Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

What do little birdies see when they get knocked unconscious?

If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?

Do married people live longer than single people, or does it just SEEM longer?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

If all those psychics know the winning lottery numbers, why are they all still working?

How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

I wanted to take a minute to thank all of the leaders for your hard work with everything, and also with watching over our babies. I can only imagine how much prep work has gone into this (PC, I know you've been working your hiney off too!), but I know it's all worth it. Not only are you serving God by helping the people of Jamaica, but you are also teaching our children how to love and serve as well. Thank you so much for that (am I a bit emotional at the moment? I'm not saying ;)

OK so this is my THIRD try at a message. Either I am computer illiterate, or my work computer is possessed (OR the boss caught me on this sight ALL day and shut me down!!)
FROM HOME, here goes,
I am SO hooked on this sight. The way GOD is moving in and through the group is just so AWESOME. The pictures speak volumes and then to hear about the street ministry, our GOD is a great GOD, and worhty to be praised!
On a personal note, Sassy seeing you between those two precious children warmed my heart.
I miss you very much. This is one of those times though, like the song says. . ' I let you go, so I could watch you GROW!' Spread your wings my ANGEL, and let GODs' love and goodness flow threw you.
DOS-where are you?? You wanted a blog message I want to SEE you in living color!
Miss Vicki- keep on my girl to clean up her 'space'. ONLY a mother of a daughter knows how 'messy' they can be!!
PC, I love you girl, you are doing an AMAZING job. Thank you for the blog, the pictures, your guidance and the work YOU are doing.
Praying for more stories, more pictures, more blessings, more JESUS 'bumps' moments!!
love you all,
Mama Kelly
