Well, here we are at the end of day 2 already. We spent a brief morning trip to Bryce Elementary School just down the hill from New Vision Children's Home with half of the team to do a short assembly. We had a great time meeting all the kids and sharing 'Shackles' and Sin Chair with them. Our characters for Sin Chair were: Janitor - Lizzi Donohue; Main Character - Breanna Roland; Ninja - Danielle Amato; Superman - Trevor Hagen; Wrestler - Jake Daniels; Cop - Angela Barbitta; Christian - Ivelisse Reyes. Liz Newman did a great job at explaining Sin Chair.
While half the team was at Bryce Elementary the other half stayed at New Vision and worked with the construction team installing windows, cleaning up construction debris, sifting sand for concrete, sanding walls, hanging drywall and busting up concrete. Part of the team also spent time on Stacey Amato's clean team as they ripped through the cafeteria and scrubbed some much needed walls, tables, chairs, tile grout and such just so we could...
...bring in the youngest children that live here and throw a mini VBS for them. Muddy feet and all (because the skies just opened up and poured) they came and sang songs with us, listened to Lizzi Donohue and Trevor Hagen tell a story about friendship. They got to enjoy oreo cookies and make a prayer box.
After dinner our whole team was challenged to a 'Shackles' dance-off with the New Vision teens. We were able to run through the skit 'Mask' first and as the lead - Robert DiPuppo took an elbow to the eye by our 'head banger' played by Emma Lamanna (Janet he's okay - no black eye...yet) he was still able to perform in our dance competition in which Real Life Youth took 2nd out of 2 teams to 'Shackles'. With heads held high we had a great time dancing to the cupid shuffle, then danced off to family time, showers and Lights OUT! (Except for a few who are blogging for you!)
